Jackie “Jack” Williams, 91 of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022. 

 

He was born in Kannapolis, NC to the late Robert “Bob” Williams and Mattie Williams.  Jack attended Lee University and graduated with a B.S. Degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.  After coming home from the military, he was employed by Pioneer Bank for 12 years.  Jack was later employed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Tennessee, retiring after 25 years of service.

 

He was a member of the Church of God for many years.  Jack was currently a member of Hixson United Methodist Church, where he served on the Finance Committee, taught Sunday School and organized and managed the “Shoes for Orphan Souls” mission ministry.  He was also a member of the American Legion and Lions Club.  Jack enjoyed helping his neighbors through the “Meals on Wheels” service and his community Home Owners Association.  He enjoyed vacationing and fishing with his wife Edna in Daytona Beach, playing bingo with his friends at “Dominion Senior Living” and watching or playing a good round of golf.

 

Jack was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Williams; sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther Williams, Bill Avant and Frances and Gene Hailey, as well as great grandson, Isaac Moore.

 

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Edna Romans Williams; sons, Anthony Williams and Joel (Chiesa) Williams; daughter, Deborah (Charlie) Tucker; sister, Doris Avant, brother-in-law Guy Williams, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Jerry McNabb officiating.  Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
