Patriots Day Luncheon Honoring First Responders Is Saturday

The first Patriots Day Luncheon honoring local police, fire, EMS and 911 communication employees will be held on Saturday, sponsored by the Chattanooga Elks Lodge #91.

A presentation of the Grand Elks Lodge Medal of Service will be presented to Charles P.B. “Scobey” Newman, Jr.

The event will be held at the Chattanooga Elks Lodge from 12:30-2 p.m. 

Mr. Newman began his career as first responder in the late 1970s in his hometown of Sweetwater, Tn. After high school he worked in the local hospital as an “orderly” while attending Hiwassee College. He graduated as a paramedic from ETEMS. In 1985 he was part of the MedFlight 5 team. In 1988 he began his local career at Erlanger Medical Center and continued on to Hamilton County EMS where he continues to serve despite being diagnosed with cancer and receiving treatments.

Lunch will be served free of charge to all police, fire, EMS and 911 communication employees.
