Flowers, Mary Frances (Cleveland)

Mary Frances Flowers, 74, a resident of Cleveland, departed for her eternal home on Thursday, January 26, 2023, in a local hospital.

Frances, the name she often went by, was born and raised in Charleston, Tennessee and she was the daughter of the late Mary Moore Simpson and Reverend Yules Simpson.

She was preceded in death by her sons Larry Brock and Lon Wallace Brock Jr.; her brothers William Edward Simpson, Charles Yules Simpson, Reverend Grady Simpson; her sisters Ollie Lavern Simpson, Carrie Lee Simpson, Anita Faye Simpson Earwood, Jeraldine Simpson Rose; her niece Diana Rose Calfee and special friends Bessie Beshears and Mable Hensley.

She attended the Charleston School. Upon her marriage in 1967, she moved to Cleveland. Her first job in Cleveland was at Bishop Bakery, followed by Life Care of Cleveland as a Nursing Assistant. Her last employment was at Bradley Healthcare assisting in house keeping. Frances was enthusiastic about attending church and worshipping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She had a God-ordained gift of vocally ministering through song to uplift the spirits of all who heard her sing and minister with the word of God. She often performed at local churches singing with her parents and siblings. Frances was a life long member of Unity Church of God and she also attended Community Hall Church. 

Frances cherished her loving daughter Lisa Greene and her loving son Wayne Brock. She adored her grandchildren Misty Brock, Holly Jones and Bobby Brock; her great grandchildren Julie, Ivy, Alisa and Race; her siblings Doug Simpson (Kathy) and Emma Jo Hicks, and she held a special bond with her great great nieces Autumn and Isabella Rutledge. 

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 2:30 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Reverend Guinn Green, Reverend Jeannie Cissom and Reverend David Rose officiating.

Interment will follow in the Charleston City Cemetery with Robert Groomes, Donnie Rose, Jonathon Rose, Louis Lawson, Dakota Hyde and David Douglas Groomes serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
