Southern Adventist University students, employees and alumni will continue the university’s tradition of honoring Martin Luther King Jr. through service to the community on Monday, Jan. 16. Approximately 1,000 participants will join together on Southern’s MLK Service Day to serve organizations and community members within the Chattanooga area.
This year, Southern is partnering with approximately 30 organizations, including the Chambliss Center, Humane Educational Society, Samaritan Center and Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
The event is sponsored in part by Truist.
“It’s a Southern tradition to take time on MLK Day to make a positive difference in our community,” said Cheryl Craven, director of Christian Service at Southern. “My hope is that our students experience the joy of service and make it a way of life, both during their academic career at Southern and following graduation.”
