Mary Catherine Hicks Coppit, 94, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, she was a retired hairdresser and was a member of Temple Baptist Church for over 32 years where she was a former member of the Sanctuary Choir, the Golden Agers and the Bethany Sunday School Class and was also a member of the Ladies Shrine #36.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Coppitt; daughter, Sandye Freels; parents, James and Gladys Holt Hicks; two sisters, Mildred Smith and Margaret Schmidt; and brother Jimmy Hicks.

She is survived by daughter, Marilyn Privette; two brothers, Jerry (Gail) Hicks and Bill (Linda) Hicks; four grandsons, Adam (Dana) Brobeck, Lamar King, Tory (Cheryl) King and Larry Ellis; nine great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friend 5-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home East Brainerd Chapel, Chattanooga, Tn.
