Thomas Richard “Dick” Bird
Thomas Richard “Dick” Bird, 87, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away peacefully holding the hand of his precious wife. He now is in the presence of the Lord.
Dick, as everyone knew him, was born on February 21, 1936 in Rossville and has lived there his entire life. He graduated from Rossville High School, started working at Combustion and met the love of his life and then got married.
Dick enjoyed walks in Chickamauga Battlefield with his wife, Martha, going camping together and riding motorcycles. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by two of his sons, Scott Anthony and Michael Steven Bird; parents, Basil I. and Hazel Bird; brothers, Ronald and Bob Bird and one sister, Charlotte Bird Sparks.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 65 years, Martha Kelley Bird; son, David A. Bird of Mantesano, Washington State; sisters, Joan Bird White and Delores (Keith) Bull; granddaughters, Aleisha Bird Cole & family, Erica Vird Medley & family; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
The family would like share a special “Thank you” to Carolyn and Larry Windsor for all the love and support they have given during this time.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel.
Interment will be at TN-GA Memorial Park following the service.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 3-7 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 30, from 1 till service hour at 2 p.m.
