Anita Kay Brotherton
Anita Kay Brotherton, 62, of Flowery Branch, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
Anita Kay graduated from Winder Barrow High School in 1977. She then graduated from Furman University with her undergraduate degree in 1981. In 1984 Anita Kay received her law degree from the University of Georgia.
Anita Kay retired in 2018 with 32 years of dedicated public service as an attorney and IT specialist in the Office of the General Counsel, first with the Department of Health and Human Services and then with the Social Security Administration. Anita Kay was a superlative legal strategist and became a mentor and friend to the many attorneys she worked with over the years.
Anita Kay loved the Lord, her family, and her friends with her whole heart. She was a veracious reader, she loved all things J.R.R. Tolkien, and the Lord of the Rings. She had a passion for music and her playlist went across many genres. Anita Kay also loved working on crafts and was looking forward to doing crafts with Mimi during retirement. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dave Brotherton; and special uncles, Bob McKay and Tommy McKay.
Survivors include her mother, Faye Brotherton; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local food bank of your choice.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Brother Luke McKay officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
