Doug Lancaster
James Douglas Lancaster, known to friends and family as Doug, peacefully passed away on December 7, 2023, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on August 27, 1944, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Doug led a life rich in love, service, and commitment.
Doug proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in the Navy, stationed abroad on the USS Cochran. It was during his dedicated service that he crossed paths with the love of his life, Phillis June Brummett. Their bond blossomed into a beautiful family, and together they welcomed two children into the world, James Aaron Lancaster and Jami Lavon Lancaster. For 56 years, Doug and Phillis made their home in Cleveland, Tn., creating a life filled with love, warmth, and enduring memories.
A man of faith, Doug was a cherished member of the North Cleveland Church of God, where he dedicated 35 years of his life to the Crusader Choir. His passion and unwavering commitment to his church left an everlasting mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Doug is preceded in death by his father, Jesse W. Lancaster, and mother, Frances L. Lancaster. He is survived by his devoted wife, Phillis J. Lancaster, his son James A. Lancaster and wife Dee, and his daughter Jami L. Lancaster.
Doug's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Jessica Lancaster-Burns and husband Tanner Burns, Michael Aaron Seiden, Guy Jacob Lancaster, and Samantha Nicole Seiden. The light of his life continues to shine through his great-grandchildren, Riley Alexis Lancaster-Burns, Olivia Harlow Burns, Bentley Aaron Burns, and Easton Cole Burns.
He is also survived by his siblings Jesse Lancaster and wife Marie, Judy Morgan and husband Bunkey, Mitch Lancaster and wife Cheryl, and Tommy Lancaster and wife Brenda. Their shared memories and the bonds of family are a testament to the enduring strength of love and kinship.
A celebration of Doug's life will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9th, at the North Cleveland Church of God in the Dixon Chapel. Visitation hours will be from 1-2 p.m., followed by a memorial service starting at 2 p.m. The ceremony will conclude with a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The Lancaster family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Doug's legacy of love, faith, and harmony will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
