Baseball Round-up: Friday, March 17th

BASEBALL

Soddy Daisy 8, Notre Dame 3

Kale Johnson’s three run double in the fourth inning powered Soddy Daisy to a Hixson Wildcat Classic win over the Irish. The Trojans struck for four more runs in the sixth behind RBIs by Keith Scoggins, Logan Williams and Troy James.

Notre Dame had earlier taken a 3-1 lead behind the hitting of Alec Bouchard and Rily Roberts.

Luke Camp went five innings on the mound for Soddy daisy, giving up three runs on five hits and striking out six with zero walks. Cooper Jones started for Notre Dame and lasted five innings, surrendering five runs on nine hits and striking out eight.

The Trojans tallied 13 hits with James, Drew Lewis and Williams all getting multiple hits.

Hixson 9, Mt. Juliet Christian 3

The Wildcats grabbed the lead in the fourth and never looked back as they defeated Mt. Juliet Christian in the wildcat Classic. Jase Moses and Riley Frazier led the Wildcat offense with two hits each, while Moses and Cameron Butler each had two RBBIs.

Charlie Rucker pitched five innings for the win.

Boyd Buchanan 13, Walker Valley 4

The Mustangs gave up a three run lead in the bottom of the third and Boyd Buchanan piled on with 13 runs over the next four innings.

The Bucs were led by Haden Griffith, who went three for three at the plate, and Cooper Jones, Jacob Hutcheson and Xavier Embry who all had two hits.

Braxton Smith led Walker valley with a pair of hits and Parker Minnix who homered.

Brayden Standefer got the win, while the Mustangs’ Chipper Franks took the loss.

Signal Mountain 15, Cleveland 2

The Eagles blew out the Blue Raiders thanks to a nine run sixth inning. Already leading 6-0, Signal Mountain struck hard and fast in the sixth sending 13 batters to the plate.

The Eagles were led offensively by Ben Timblin, Mason Howell and Ty Harper, all with two hits. Harper and Jake Edmondson homered for Signal.

A trio of Signal Mountain pitchers combined to toss a two hitter. Luke Smiley picked up the win, going four and two thirds innings. Allowing one hit with four strikeouts. Howell and Barrett Anderson came on in relief.
