Delmos Benefield, 89, went to his heavenly home with his Lord, on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

He was born in Fyffe, Al., on Nov. 3, 1933, with his twin brother, Elmos.

Delmos retired from Combustion Engineering as a welder, after 42 years of service.

He was previously a deacon at Lupton Drive Baptist Church for several years, and attended New Salem Baptist Church with his family.

Gone before him was his wife of 69 years, Z. Jean Benefield.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Bowen, granddaughter Tiffany Oxford, and grandson Jonathan Bowen, and great-grandson, Ethan Connor Oxford.

Surviving siblings are sisters, Rachel Findley and Shirley Benefield, along with nieces and nephews.

The best Daddy and Papa, who loved and cared for his family. He took care of us and we had the privilege of caring for him in the end.

Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Hamilton Memorial Gardens, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 4. The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:30-2:45 p.m.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
