Paul Nicholas “Big Nick” Maddux
Paul Nicholas “Big Nick” Maddux, 61, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away March 16, 2023 at a Nashville Health facility.
He was the son of the late Paul (Jack) Maddux and Nancy Maddux Branam. He was also preceded in death by his brothers; John Lloyd Maddux and Mark Alexander Maddux.
Nick was an avid Powerlifter winning many national competitions and has held several state and national records. After he no longer competed, he loved spending time preparing other lifters for competition including his wife, Misti, his grandson, Jaxon, and many others.
Not only did Nick successfully coach powerlifters, he was a successful coach in the local youth football leagues winning many championships and maintaining many undefeated seasons. He also coached football at Bradley Junior High School for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Misti Danyel Maddux; children, Paul Anthony Maddux (Jennifer), Jon Dale (Jasmine), Nicole Brooke Seale (Ryan), Grace Eileen Maddux; grandchildren, Jaxon Pierce Maddux, Brandon Lee Maddux, Brookelynn Rayne Maddux, Hope Leeann Dale; mother, Margie Lewis (Hank); brother, Jackie Maddux (Lela). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and special cousin ,Shane Maddux; special friends, Steve Strickland, Steve Braz, Chris Malone, Enloe West, Mickey Atkinson and Rick Sherk.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, March 20, at 5:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Church of God on Harrison Pike with Pastor Gary Sears officiating. Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Street Chapel will be handling the arrangements.
The interment will follow in the Calhoun Community Cemetery with Danny Jones, Steve Strickland, Steve Braz, Chris Malone, Enloe West, Jaxon Maddux serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2-5:30 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Church of God.
