Danny Joe Godfrey, 80, of the Oak Grove community, departed this life peacefully on March 22, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family.

He was born on Sept. 3, 1942 in Benton to the late Leonard and Ruth Bates Godfrey.

Danny faithfully served his country with the United States Coast Guard.  Throughout life, he was a well-respected carpenter, friend and neighbor to many, and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Leonard and Ruth Godfrey, he was preceded by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn Diveley Godfrey; one brother, James Godfrey; and one sister, Alva Jane Warren.

Left to cherish the many memories include his beloved children, Robin (Jacyn) Higgins, Bambie (Jeremy) Arnold and Cody (Felica) Godfrey; cherished grandchildren, Nathan Gargala, Sophia Arnold, Dustin Godfrey, Lee Godfrey, Roscoe Seth Godfrey, Nacole Godfrey and Raelyn Ann Godfrey; great-grandchildren, Peyton Godfrey, Khloe Godfrey, Emerson Gargala, Evie Gargala and Ethan Gargala; and siblings, Larry (Janice) Godfrey, Rick (Karen) Godfrey, Jerry (Vickie) Godfrey and Karen Harrison.  Several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Richard Schauer presiding.  Interment with military honors will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.  Jeremy Arnold, Clay Godfrey, Nick Godfrey, Nathan Gargala, Dustin Godfrey and Lee Godfrey will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends will gather from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
