Funding Secured To Expand Hamilton County Mental Health Court

Officials said new state funding has been secured to expand Hamilton County Mental Health Court.

Christy Cooper, administrator of county general services, said the program is due to receive almost $90,000 for this fiscal year, then $201,000 for the next fiscal year.

Of the latter support she said, "We expect that to be standard going forward."

The new funding will allow additional staff members to work closely with those with mental issues who have been assigned to the court.

The program helps move people with mental issues out of the jails and into treatment programs, it was stated.
