Longtime Event Coordinator With The Chattanooga Convention Center

Sandra Lamb Cooper, 78, formerly of Rossville, Georgia, and a graduate of Rossville High School, passed away on Tuesday April 18, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Mrs. Cooper was a devout Christian and her faith was her guiding light. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for 18 years and the Fellowship Sunday School class. Prior to that she attended Brained Presbyterian Church where the congregation continued to show their love for her throughout the years until she passed.

She retired in 2007 from a long career as an event coordinator at the Chattanooga Convention Center. She was very passionate about helping people and loved that job immensely. Prior to that she worked alongside her husband Jerry Lamb at Wright Brothers Construction on projects such as Battlefield Parkway (2A) Pellissippi Parkway and The Mall of Georgia.

She was a talented writer from a very young age. She wrote poems, children’s stories and songs. Some of her family’s favorites include: “The Mirror”, “Scooter the Squirrel” and “I Stand Tall”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Rena Shaver, her siblings, Beverly Dodd and Ray Shaver, her former husbands, David McInturff and Jerry Lamb, daughter, Rebecca Skinner, granddaughter, Allie Corder and grandson, Ryan Harris.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Cooper, her brothers, Rick Shaver and Ron Shaver, children, Kimberly Harris (Mike), Kimberly Swallows (Mike), Vickie Lamb, Dina Poindexter (Mark) and Marty Cooper (Nancy), 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m.
