Matriarch Of Her Family And Dedicated Member Of Fort Oglethorpe United Methodist Church

Dorothy Jean Tucker Fricks, 92, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 30, 2023.

Dorothy was born and raised in Dekalb County, Al., and graduated from Sand Rock High School. She was a dedicated member of The Fort Oglethorpe United Methodist Church and worked for American Lava for 17 years as an inspector. Dorothy loved to be with her family and adored spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed coloring, doing word searches, and was a talented seamstress. Dorothy made many beautiful items of clothing for her daughters over the years from prom dresses to wedding gowns. She was creative, loving, sassy but sweet, loved people, and enjoyed catching up with her friends. Dorothy was known as the matriarch of the family and was the center for information. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Fricks; parents, Oats and Ethel Tucker; siblings: Melvin Tucker, Melba Chestnut, Sybil Evans, Russell Tucker, and June Tucker.

Survivors include her daughters: Gloria Roderick, Diane (Gary) Robinson, and Patty Fricks; grandchildren: Brandon (Christina) Robinson, Jordan (Whitney) Robinson, Lindsey (Matt) Guider, and Tyler (Mallory) Roderick; great grandchildren: Jackson and Marshall Robinson, Julian and Weston Robinson, Jake and Laura Guider, Maggie and Colton Roderick; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 4, from 9-11 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11am in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
