Kenneth Olvy Sheppard, 78, went home to be with his Father in heaven on June 3, 2023. Ken was born on March 28, 1945, to Olvy and Ruth Sheppard, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

His parents were officers in the Salvation Army. They provided a religious and social service ministry to broken and impoverished families. The family also lived in North Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald J. Sheppard.

Ken is survived by his wife, Beverly R. Sheppard, son Aaron K. Sheppard (Gina) of Signal Mountain, and daughter, Kendra Sheppard, of Euless, Tx.. He cherished his family and loved them unconditionally. Ken and Beverly were married for 53 years. They met in Memphis, Tn., where Ken graduated from Memphis State University. He later attended Purdue University. He worked for The Quaker Oats Company in Quality Assurance. Ken retired in 2004, and he and Beverly returned to Signal Mountain.

Ken was an assistant scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 60, at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church for many years. He also was a member of WRES, along with his son, doing search and rescue. Ken had a lifelong interest in entomology, which he felt very fortunate to be able to turn into a career. He came upon his true passion later in life, which was learning to play the fiddle. Ken never met a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known by many as the embodiment of a true friend.

Ken was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church. He loved the Lord, and his son, Jesus Christ. Ken was a grateful and thankful believer, who wished to remain humble in his faith walk.

In lieu of flowers, Beverly requested that memorial contributions be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or the Wayside Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Fund.

A memorial service will be held at Wayside Presbyterian Church, Signal Mountain, Tn., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 15.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.
