KZ-106 and Humane Educational Society invite the community to the second annual “Rock On at Kelly’s Adopt-a-Thon” to celebrate the late Kelly McCoy’s passion for pets on Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Humane Educational Society at 4155 Randolph Circle in Chattanooga.
This free community celebration continues the legacy of Kelly’s Pet Project that has found homes for hundreds of animals through a partnership with the HES.
Scott Chase, operations manager, Cumulus Chattanooga, said, “Kelly set the standard for music radio hosts in Chattanooga and her love of animals was contagious.
We are honored to carry on her mission to support the Humane Educational Society, pets, and their forever families.”
The Adopt-a-Thon, sponsored by KZ-106, Hemp House and Ark Pet Spa & Hotel, will feature free adoptions all day, live classic rock by local talent, “NO big deal,” over 20 pet-friendly vendors, giveaways, food trucks and much more. The KZ-106 team will be onsite for a live broadcast. The goal is to find a loving home for every animal in the shelter.
"Kelly was part of the fabric of Chattanooga during a radio career that spanned more than 35 years starting out as an East Ridge Pioneer and Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneer," officials said. "She began her radio career at Chattanooga’s first news radio station, WZRA, before moving to WGOW-AM as Promotions Director for Classic Rock WFXS, and then to Classic Rock KZ-106 where she became the area’s #1 midday radio host for two decades.
"The Rock On Adopt-a-Thon is a celebration of Kelly’s life, and her dedication to the work of Humane Educational Society. Public support and donations ensure animals in need receive the life-changing second chance they deserve. HES has an unwavering commitment to provide the highest quality of care and veterinary services to each animal that enters the shelter."
