Greater Chattanooga Navy League Council Wins Awards

Captain Billy Hewett, USN (Retired) and Council President David B. Smith, CUCM, USN (RET) attended the National Navy League Convention in Dallas, Tx. where the Council received the 2022 Meritorious Council Award and two 2022 Donald Mackie Awards: The Gold Newsletter Award and The Silver Social Media Award.

They attended a Welcome Aboard reception on Thursday evening, plus two luncheons, one Service Senior Enlisted Leadership breakfast, with the Master Chief of the Navy plus the leading enlisted Marine and Coast Guard MCPO.

The training sessions included Legislative Affairs, Council Leadership & Strategic Planning, Maritime Policy, a fireside chat with the National President, a Center for Maritime Strategy update, a Sea Services, a session on Ship Commission/Unit Adoption, plus social media training. The first day included a session of best practices in growing your council, an annual meeting of members, and a Meeting of Delegates. That evening, they attended the National President’s Reception and the National President’s Farewell Dinner.
