From Johnny Cash’s “Big River” to a dance routine to “Grease Lightning” and a patriotic medley, the Morning Pointe Foundation’s Seniors Got Talent show on Aug. 8 offers a wide variety of performances.
The show, produced in conjunction with Morning Pointe Senior Living, starts at 7 p.m. at the Silverdale Center Creekside Theatre at 7236 Bonny Oaks Dr. The venue is part of the Silverdale Baptist Academy campus.

Seating is
general admission.
Performers are ages 64-88, and the performances will include:
- The Trembling Troubadours Parkinson’s choir singing “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”;
- Hoyt Rogers, singer and guitarist, performing a medley of “Big River” and “Kansas City”;
- The Boots and Buckle line dancing group dancing to “Grease Lightning”;
- The Starlighters Doo-Wop Band singing “You Belong to Me”;
- The Hopkins Band performing “Proud Mary”;
- Crystal Little, a singer and pianist, performing “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow”;
- Jamie Fairbanks-Harvey, a tap dancer, dancing to “I’m Still Standing”;
- Dale Sneed, electric guitarist, playing “Goodbye, World, Goodbye”;
- Bonnie Hannah, pianist, performing “Patriotic Medley”; and
- Jim Herman singing “Bless This House”.
Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third-place winners. The overall winner will receive $500.
In addition, show attendees will be able to vote for their favorite act at $1 per vote for the People’s
Choice Award, with funds going to the Morning Pointe Foundation.
The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living founded by Tennessee-based senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow. Seniors Got Talent proceeds specifically go toward clinical scholarships for students at partner colleges.
Tour T-shirts will also be available at the show for $20 as a Foundation fundraiser.
“We have incredible talent lined up this year, and I think it’s going to be tough for our judges to determine a winner,” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation executive director. “If you have never been to Seniors Got Talent, it’s a night of entertainment and inspiration you don’t want to miss.”
Greg Funderburg, award-winning journalist/podcast host and former anchor for WTVC Newschannel 9 morning/noon news, will serve as the master of ceremonies. Judges include Rodney Van Valkenburg, executive director of the Chattanooga Theatre Centre; Steve Darmody, award-winning Christian recording artist; Ashley Rogers, a former Miss Tennessee at Cosmos United States Pageants and owner of Magic Lamp Entertainment, Knoxville Princess Parties and Kid Quest Expo; and Danielle Farrell, founder and artistic director for Encounter Artistic Movement.
