As part of its 2023 Best of High School matchups, ESPNU has announced that the McCallie - Brentwood Academy football game set for September 15 in Nashville has been selected to be nationally televised with an 8 p.m. kickoff.

The game is one of nine weekly featured GEICO ESPN High School Football Showcase matchups between some of the best high school football talent and teams from across the country, a press release says.

The McCallie-Brentwood Academy game is the only game in the series pitting teams from the Volunteer State. The TSSAA Division II Class AAA showdown features last year’s semifinal playoff losers.

The Blue Tornado finished 10-3 last season, advancing to the Tennessee 3A playoffs before losing by just one point, 28-27, in the state semifinals, while the Eagles (9-3) fell to eventual state champion Baylor in the other semifinal contest, 44-39.

McCallie returns a trio of seniors: quarterback Jeremy St-Hilaire (Vanderbilt commit), defensive end Carson Gentle (Tennessee commit) and athlete Marcellus Barnes Jr. (Va. Tech commit). Junior athlete Carson Lawrence is also committed to Vanderbilt.

Brentwood Academy features the number three ranked PP-QB in the class in junior George MacIntyre, along with 3-star recruits Tamari Hill and Kolbe Harmon – running back and defensive back, respectively. Senior defensive end Hank Weber, a Wisconsin commit and offensive lineman Andrew Peterson, a Princeton commit, are also featured.

According to a press release, the 2023 GEICO ESPN High School Football Showcase will feature matchups between some of the best high school football talent and teams from across the country. The nine-game schedule begins Friday, Sept. 1, and will continue through Friday, Oct. 20.

This year’s showcase will feature 39 ranked players from ESPN 300 (Class of 2024) and ESPN Junior 300 (Class of 2025), including ranked athletes who have committed to top college programs such as Alabama, Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State and USC. Teams from ten states are represented in this season’s showcase: Alabama, California , Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Nevada, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington DC.

This year’s showcase will feature 39 ranked players from the ESPN 300 (Class of 2024) and the ESPN Junior 300 (Class of 2025). The series begins September 1 with Charlotte Catholic facing Providence Day in Charlotte, N.C.
