Southside Veterinary Clinic, formerly known as Main Street Pet Wellness, announces the opening of its new and permanent home on Chattanooga’s Southside near Finley Stadium. The expanded space at 2001 Chestnut St. enables the clinic to better serve the needs of local pet owners with increased capacity and a continued focus on personalized, trustworthy veterinary care, officials said.
The new facility spans over 4,000 square feet and includes six exam rooms, compared to two exam rooms in a 2,000 square-foot building at its former location at 1132 E.
Main St. With the expanded capacity, it also provides additional space for surgeries, dental cleanings and the state-of-the-art equipment required for these procedures.
Southside Veterinary Clinic is led by owner and head veterinarian Dr. John Lindsay, a Chattanooga native. SVC remains one of the few independently owned and operated veterinary practices in the Chattanooga area, officials said.
The clinic's approach to veterinary medicine is rooted in trust, transparency and client education. “We don’t believe in upselling services our patients don’t need or dictating the ‘best’ course of action,” said Dr. Lindsey. “Our goal is to be a resource for pet owners — someone they can trust and relate to, who is going to be honest and provide care that makes sense for each individual pet and owner.”
The business opened in 2016 as a single-doctor practice with a small front-office staff.
During 2020 in the COVID-19 lockdown, Dr. Lindsay said the business was forced to stop receiving new clients due to limited space and staff support in the face of a massive increase in the pet population. He said one of the most difficult parts was turning away clients in need on a daily basis.
Now, Southside Vet Clinic has two part-time veterinarians, Dr. Jordan Mracna and Dr. Michael Krigbaum, in addition to Dr. Lindsey. As the business grows, the plan is for part time staff to transition to full time. SVC has a front-office and vet tech staff of seven, which will also grow to meet demand. With the new building, Dr. Lindsey hopes to serve more pet owners in the Chattanooga area.
“We are excited about the possibilities that this new building brings us and we look forward to serving the Chattanooga community for years to come," he said.
To celebrate the move, Southside Veterinary Clinic will host a public grand opening party and open house at the new location this summer. To stay up-to-date with announcements, follow the clinic on social media at https://www.facebook.com/SouthsideVetCHA.
