Chattanooga Mocs wrestling coach Kyle Ruschell announced the addition of Devin Skatzka to his 2023-24 coaching staff. The credentials jump off the page.
Skatzka is a 4-time NCAA Qualifier and All-American at 174. He began his career at Indiana before completing it at Minnesota in 2020. Between the two, he amassed 102 wins (48-Indiana/54-Minnesota).
“We’re excited to add someone of Devin’s quality to our staff,” Ruschell shared. “He was one of the best in the country during his career and has continued to compete while starting to learn the art of coaching as well.
“His impact on our room will be huge especially in those middle weights.
Devin has a lot to offer in training and competition.”
Skatzka is a 4-time NCAA Qualifier at 174 earning All-America status with an 8th-place finish in 2019 and was a first team NWCA pick in 2020 in the COVID-shortened campaign. He won 102 matches in his collegiate career at Indiana (48) and Minnesota (54).
After graduating from Minnesota with a degree in Sport Management, Skatzka was an RTC athlete first with the Gopher Wrestling Club (2020-21) before moving to Spartan Combat RTC from 2021-23 prior to coming to the Scenic City.
He also served as assistant wrestling coach working with Cornell’s “grey shirts” group for the past three years. Post-graduation, he worked with numerous camps notably from 2021-23 with the Mike Grey Summer Wrestling. Skatzka also spent the 2021 season as volunteer coach with Minnesota State Champion Smiley High School and coached Pennsylvania Cadet Team at the 2022 Cadet Duals.
He is a native of Richmond, Mich. Devin was a 3-time high school All-American at Richmond where he was a 4-time state champion as well as an all-state football player.
