Chattanooga Gas Named “Customer Champion”

  • Thursday, January 11, 2024
Chattanooga Gas has been named both a Residential and Business Customer Champion among natural gas and electric utilities by Escalent, a top data analytics and advisory firm with extensive energy, utility and brand experience. Chattanooga Gas is one of only four companies to be awarded both designations this year.

According to Escalent, the 2023 Residential Customer Champion utilities excelled at building customer relationships and demonstrated value beyond providing basic energy service.
The 2023 Business Customer Champion utilities were highlighted for their active, visible role in their communities and for providing options that help business customers reach their savings goals.

“Effectively communicating with our customers, both residential and business, is a top priority at Chattanooga Gas,” says Pedro Cherry, president and CEO of Chattanooga Gas. “Sharing the value of natural gas and being responsive to our customers’ needs are key parts of the relationship we have with them.”

Escalent noted that the Customer Champions specifically excelled at communicating the company’s environmental objectives and at helping business customers reach their own sustainability goals. Chattanooga Gas announced in August that 100 percent of the natural gas supply for its residential and small business customers is Next Generation Gas. This gas is procured, transported or delivered by companies that are reducing their methane emissions. This will equate to an emissions reduction of approximately 16,000 tons of carbon dioxide, which is roughly equivalent to removing the emissions from more than 3,500 gasoline-powered automobiles from the road for one year.

Customer Champions also received higher scores for sharing the benefits of their opt-in programs. The Chattanooga Gas ‘Keep Me Informed’ communications program provides customers with reminders and updates on their service appointments.

This is the second year a row Chattanooga Gas was awarded the Residential Customer Champion designation.
