A twenty-point cushion with just a few minutes left in half began to fill Chattanooga Christian’s gymnasium with the aroma of an upset.

The Chargers led McCallie 43-23 with under five minutes remaining in the half. It looked like this game was spiraling out of the Blue Tornado’s grasp, but a 9-0 run to end the first half would bring them back well within reach.

This game was a back-and-forth nail-biter, and it would be the home team prevailing in the end to grab their first district win of the season by a score of 76-70.

McCallie Came out of their halftime locker room with the momentum on their side and it would carry it through to the third period as they continued to erase a once huge Chargers’ advantage. The Blue Tornado eventually found themselves only down one possession with 1:11 left in the third, and the game now seemed to be all but theirs.

McCallie then ran into a bit of an issue. That issue stood a little over six feet tall and was wearing the opposition's jersey. That issue being senior guard for CCS, Dre Jackson.

Jackson would halt the idea of this game slipping away with an and-one layup that brought the game back to a two-possession game as the final minute of the third period ticked away. This layup was vital at the time, and it noticeably shot life back into the Chargers players and fans.

The fourth quarter would be full of big-time shots, and gut punches being thrown by both teams. Just when you thought the Chargers were pulling away, McCallie would have an answer. And just as you thought the Blue Tornado had made an insane comeback, a CCS player would come back and make a play. It was a high school basketball thriller the whole way through.

With just under three minutes left in the game, Jackson would hit a lead-taking three to make the score, 67-65. Jackson would go on to finish the game with a game-high of 38 points,

The big man for McCallie, Kenneth Chime, would be quick to respond on the other end, throwing down a dunk, to tie the game at, 67-67. The whole crowd was on the edge of their seat, all awaiting the one play that would change the game, and that play would fall into the hands of the Chargers.

Reid Conley who had been massive down the stretch for CCS, in making several clutch free throws, would make another one, giving them a 68-67 lead. He would go on to finish the game with 14, with 12 of his points being from the stripe. McCallie would then come down on the other end urgently looking for a way to reclaim the lead but were met with a voracious Charger defense. The Chargers left no passing lanes available, which forced a turnover out of McCallie. A fastbreak would then ensue.

The ball would end up in the hands of CCS forward, Caiden Bauldwin, who had a clear lane to the basket. Bauldwin would rise up and erupt the gym with a one-handed dunk. This gave the Chargers a three-point lead at, 70-67, and they wouldn’t look back.

CCS would walk away with this game with a final score of 76-70. This win for the Chargers would split the season series between the two teams, with McCallie winning the previous matchup on December 30th, 71-61.

CCS girls 61, GPS 34: Momo Moore scored 23 points in leading the Lady Chargers past GPS. CCS jumped out to a 34-10 lead at the half and put it in cruise control for the remainder of the contest. Aubriyanan Camp contributed 13 in the winning effort, while the Bruisers were paced by Farah House with 14,
