-After six years leading the Boyd-Buchanan volleyball program, Head Coach Shanda Kirk has announced her resignation. During her tenure, the Lady Bucs achieved remarkable milestones, including four state tournament appearances and a Final Four finish in 2022. Under her guidance, the program also established a thriving intramural league beginning as early as 2nd grade, ensuring a bright future for the sport at Boyd-Buchanan.
“After six incredible years coaching volleyball at Boyd-Buchanan, it’s time to pass the torch,” said Coach Kirk.
“I’ve been blessed to watch this program grow in both talent and heart. With new responsibilities in the school’s business office and four very active boys at home, it’s the right time for new leadership to step in.”
Kirk expressed her full confidence in the athletic department's ability to find the right successor to carry the program forward.
“To all the amazing girls I’ve had the honor to coach—thank you. It’s been a blessing getting to know you on and off the court. I’ll still be your biggest cheerleader from the stands!”
She also extended heartfelt gratitude to the parents and families of her athletes. “Thank you for letting me pour into your daughters. What a gift it’s been.”
“We are grateful for the dedication and passion that she brought to our program,” said Boyd-Buchanan Athletic Director Matt Pobieglo. “While we will miss her leadership in the volleyball program, we fully support her decision and look forward to her continued work at Boyd-Buchanan and spending more time with her family. We have begun the search process to identify the next leader to move our program forward.”
