Eleven McCallie School student-athletes signed or committed to continue their academics and athletics at the collegiate level next year in an on-campus ceremony Wednesday.
Among those participating included distance runner Henry Edwards, who received a commission to the U.S. Military Academy. Tennis player Henry Imorde is a TSSAA Division II-AA state doubles champion, a five-year starter for the Blue Tornado, and a member of the four-time team state champions. He will attend Washington and Lee University.
Running back Keylan Syam was named the Most Outstanding Player of this past fall’s football state championship game in which he scored the winning touchdown with 15 seconds left in McCallie’s 27-21 victory over Baylor.
Syam, who ran for 1,431 yards and scored 26 touchdowns his senior season, will attend the University of the Cumberlands.
Others who participated included: Logan Carroll, Swimming, Berry College; Mason Carver, Baseball, Union Commonwealth University; Sean Couvertiere, Football, Dickinson College; Kaleb Gallman, Basketball, Ohio Dominican University; Kylik Mathews, Basketball, Cleveland State Community College; Ethan Provost, Rowing, University of San Diego, Ryan Rodriguez, Soccer, Lynn University, and Zach Schurr, Swimming, Kutztown State University.
