Frost Stadium, the Stadium of 1,000 Dreams, will be in full swing on Tuesday, June 10 with the 27th edition of the Tennessee-Georgia All-Star Softball Classic, powered by Scooter's Coffee. The annual border battle features a doubleheader between recent graduates of southeast Tennessee against their counterparts from northwest Georgia.
Game one will begin at 6 p.m.
Some of the top softball players from both states will be showcased, nearly all of whom will be headed to play for programs at the next level.
That includes local schools, such as Chattanooga State, Cleveland State, Lee, Covenant, Tennessee Wesleyan and Bryan to NCAA Division I programs like Presbyterian, Wofford, Jacksonville State, Tennessee Tech, Kentucky, Pittsburgh and Texas-El Paso.
Steven Rogers will serve as head coach for Team Tennessee after guiding the Lady Chargers of Chattanooga Christian School to the TSSAA Division II-AA state title earlier this month. Rogers' team will include representatives from CCS, as well as Class 4A state champion Walker Valley and Division II-A state runner-up Silverdale Baptist Academy.
Team Georgia will be led by Gordon Lee's Dana Mull, whose Lady Trojans won their 12th GHSA state title (Class A, Division I) back in October. The Peach State roster will feature players from Gordon Lee, Class AAA state champion Heritage, Class AAA Elite Eight participant LaFayette and Class AA Elite Eight teams Rockmart and Sonoraville, among others.
Tennessee has swept the last two Classics, winning 7-6 and 7-2 back in 2023 before a 9-4, 5-3 sweep a year ago gave them a 39-11-2 all-time lead. Georgia earned a split back in 2021 and 2022, taking Game 2 both times.
Silverdale's Ella Cunningham was last year's Stump Martin MVP. Baylor's Addi Yates took home the Clifford Kirk Tennessee Player of the Game award, while LaFayette's Suki Williams was the Chip Liner Georgia Player of the Game.
While the All-Star Classic will take place that evening, potential future All-Star Classic players will get a chance to shine at Frost with six youth games, starting at 9 a.m.
The first game will pit the Wolfpack against Force Elite 2018 in a 6U contest, followed by a 10:15/11:30 a.m. 8U doubleheader between the Wreckers and Force Elite 2017.
The afternoon session starts with the Atlanta Vipers against the Mojo in a 9U game at 12:45 p.m. At 2 p.m. the Chargers will take on the Frost Falcons (14U), while Fury Premier will square off with Force Elite (12U) at 3:15.
Admission for the games is $10. Children ages 6-12 are $5 and kids 5 and under get in free.
