Bryan College Clara Ward School of Nursing hosted its first BSN White Coat Ceremony, a historic milestone that highlighted the school's dedication to mentoring, inspiring and educating future nurses.

Dr. Douglas Mann, Bryan College president, kicked off the ceremony with an invocation, followed by guest speaker Judge Jace Cochran, General Sessions Court judge, who provided insights to aspiring nursing professionals. Dr. Mann reflected on the occasion, “It was a treasure to join the Bryan community at our inaugural Clara Ward School of Nursing ceremony. Students received their white coats, marking the start of clinical training to become nurses who will serve with Christ-like compassion, skill, ingenuity, and grace.”

Dr. Pamela Giles, dean and professor of the Bryan College Clara Ward School of Nursing, added, “We were excited to celebrate this milestone with our students, their families, and friends. This white coat ceremony marks the point in their BSN education when our students will provide care for patients under the supervision of our nursing faculty. We consider nursing a calling and aim to provide a sacred moment of dedication for all that lies ahead.”

She presented the First Class of Nursing students with symbolic white coats, lamps, and New Testament Bibles, emphasizing the spiritual care integrated into the Nursing curriculum.

The ceremony included the recitation of the Florence Nightingale Pledge and anointing of the students’ hands with oil, symbolizing the infusion of the Holy Spirit into their healing touch.

The event concluded with a reception in the Livesay Learning Center, fostering celebration and camaraderie among attendees.
