Chattanooga native Jim Greeson released his most recent book titled School…Memories and Reflections.
The book covers a wide range of topics including Mr. Greeson’s school experiences growing up in Chattanooga as well as his views on teaching and learning, curriculum, school leadership, segregation, school choice, federal education programs, and more.
The book also includes contributions by guest authors and retired educators Joe Galloway, Jack Sallee, and Jerry Sliger. Mr. Galloway shares his experiences as a teacher and coach at Lookout Valley High School in Chattanooga. Mr. Sallee taught history at Putnam County Senior High School in Cookeville, Tn., for 40 years and shares his views on Social Studies education. Mr. Sliger is a retired teacher and central office administrator in Putnam County, Tn., and he shares some entertaining stories about school in the 1930’s and 1940’s.
Mr. Greeson was born and raised in Chattanooga. He is a graduate of Tyner High School and holds three degrees from Tennessee Tech University. He is a retired career educator with over 50 years experience as a teacher, coach, school principal, statewide educational consultant, university adjunct professor, and facilitator for school board training.
