Cleveland State 2025 Community First Awards Nominations Are Open

  • Tuesday, October 1, 2024

Cleveland State Community College is accepting nominations for its Ninth Annual Community First Awards. Each year, these awards honor individuals who have a passion for giving back to the communities they serve.

Nominations are judged based on the nominees’ extraordinary commitment of time, talent and/or
treasure to the community. Anyone who lives in the Cleveland State five-county service area of
Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe and Polk counties is eligible to be nominated and receive a
Community First Award. Nominations should be submitted at mycs.cc/cfanominations.

Three different categories will be awarded: Alumni of the Year, Community Servant of the Year
and Educator of the Year.

For Alumni of the Year nominees should have attended and/or graduated from Cleveland
State Community College and be making a significant contribution to the community.

For Community Servant of the Year: Nominees should exemplify a spirit of volunteerism and
community involvement, giving time or financial resources to better the quality of life for the citizens of the community.

For Educator of the Year: Nominees should work or volunteer, at any level, in the education
field where he/she has or is currently making a meaningful impact on the development and growth of the students served.

“These awards honor the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals in our community. I am proud
that our college celebrates those who generously share their resources and passions,” said Dr.
Andy White, Cleveland State President. “If you know someone who exemplifies the Community
First spirit in any of the three categories, please complete a nomination form. All individuals within our five-county service area are eligible, but they must be nominated to be considered.”

This year the Community First Awards will be featured at An Evening with Scott Hamilton on Thursday, Feb. 20. An Olympic gold medalist in figure skating and a cancer survivor, Hamilton has over 70 titles, awards and honors.

Community First Award nominations are open to the public; the nomination form is available online at mycs.cc/cfanominations until Nov.15. For additional information, please contact Andrea Byerly, Public and Media Relations Manager, abyerly01@clevelandsatecc.edu or (423) 473-2341.
