The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team finished tied for eighth with Princeton in the Evie Odom Invitational. The Mocs shot 286 over the final 18 for a 876 total at Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach.
Giulia Foresta led the way with her first card in the 60s this season. Her 69 was supported by Alexis Daniel’s 71, also a season best for her. Makenzie Cooper added 72, while Kera Healey turned in a 74. Violeta Fernandez-Tagle’s 79 was the drop score.
Foresta had her top tournament finish leading the Mocs with a tie for 21st with 217.
Fernandez-Tagle shot 219 with Daniel right behind with 220. Healey’s three consecutive 74s gave her 222 with Cooper nearby at 225.
College of Charleston claimed the team title with a 2-under total of 838. That lapped the field with Furman and Sacramento State a distant second and third-place finish, respectively. The Cougars’ Emma Schimpf grabbed medalist honors at 10 under
Chattanooga closes out the fall in two weeks at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate. The event takes place at Cherokee Country Club Oct. 20-22..
