As an independent octogenarian who over the years has voted for more Republicans than Democrats, I did not vote for Donald Trump, a divisive, vindictive narcissist for whom I cannot vote this year.

My fervent hope is that another four years of a Democrat administration will cure the Republican Party of its Trumpian influenza.

While Kamala Harris is not the perfect candidate, we should not let perfect be the enemy of the good, and in my view, a vote for her is much better than the alternative.

While I respect the differing views of some friends and family, I will try, quietly, to convince them of the error of their ways.
