148 Studios will open its doors to local creators, entrepreneurs, and the podcast-curious for Mic Check: A Podcasting Open House on Monday, Dec. 2, from 4-8 p.m. A mixture of networking, demos, and education, the event aims to highlight the power of podcasting while showcasing the studio’s podcast production capabilities. Whether you’re an established podcaster looking to elevate your production value or a small business owner exploring podcasting as a marketing channel, this intimate community event offers something for everyone said organizers.

Podcasting is more than just entertainment—it’s a booming industry with real value for businesses. As of 2024, the podcasting market is projected to surpass $4 billion in advertising revenue, according to industry analysts. With over 460 million podcast listeners worldwide, businesses have a unique opportunity to connect with engaged audiences. Studies show that 81 percent of podcast listeners take action after hearing a podcast ad, making it one of the most effective mediums for trust-building and customer conversion.

The Mic Check Open House at 148 Studios will include studio tours and equipment demonstrations, with a special RSVP-only panel discussion to round out the evening. Local Chattanooga podcast producers Haylee Gaffin, Michael Crosa and Madison McCann will answer some of the biggest questions around the format while sharing insights on the power of podcasting as an emerging tool for personal and professional brand visibility.

Along with special booking rates for a podcast session at 148 Studios, one guest will win two free hours of podcast studio access.

“We want to empower our Chattanooga community to tell their stories and connect with their audiences in a meaningful way," said Daniel Ashworth, 148 Studios director. "The 148 team is passionate about serving our community. They have a resource here at 148 Studios, whether they’re comfortable in a production environment or have never stepped in front of a microphone.

Skip Skipper, who founded 148 Films a decade ago, says “Growing up in this community, not only is it an honor to provide these resources for our local leaders, but we also just get to hear some really cool stories from our neighbors.”
