Several years ago my old friend Roy Exum wrote a column every Thanksgiving called," I Am Thankful." For the past several years I have written a column in the chattanoogan.com with the same title. And believe me, it doesn't take very long to list everything I'm thankful for....just like Roy.

I am thankful for the roof over my head, the food on my table, and the clothes on my back., though they don't fit as well as they once did.

I am thankful to have reached the age of 73 and even though I have some health issues I'm thankful I'm able to get out of bed each morning.

I am thankful for being able to write a few columns each week for my friend John Wilson in the chattanoogan.com.
That tenure has covered more than a dozen years and I look forward to a dozen more.

I am thankful for being married to Shelia....the same beautiful woman I met 53 years ago and married 52 years ago this coming May.

I am truly blessed and thankful for my two children Christi and Davey. They have blessed my wife and me with five beautiful and marvelous grandchildren. ( ages eight through 14) I'm also thankful for their spouses Alison and Chris.

I am thankful for our dog Skeeter. She just turned ten years old and brings so much joy and goodness into our lives.

I am thankful for my love of dogs. I've had 28 dogs in my life. In fact, I can never remember a time when I didn't have a dog and I loved each and every one.

I am thankful for my second time through Boyd-Buchanan. My son Davey graduated from there in 2001 and we now have four of our five grandchildren enrolled there. And you would be surprised how many other two-timers there are.

I am thankful that my grandson Coleman has had a chance to play for and develop a great relationship with head football coach Gary Rankin, whose first win next year will give him a career total of 500 victories. No doubt, he's the best ever.

I am thankful to be able to do the Buccaneers football games on the radio each fall.

I am thankful for all of my broadcasting buddies, even though I don't get to see them as much as I want to.

I'm thankful for my long career as a sportscaster and all the great friendships I made through the years.

I am thankful for my love of sports. It started by the time I was able to walk and has lasted through when I can hardly walk anymore.

I am thankful for Krystal hamburgers. I'm not supposed to eat them but I will still go off the wagon and have a few every now and then.

I am thankful for my country and the fact that no matter which party controls Congress or which party controls the White House it's still the greatest country in the world.

I'm thankful that I am a liberal. If you want to call me "woke" that's fine. I own it. I believe in loving everyone no matter what color their skin is. I believe in helping the poor and underprivileged and always will.

I am thankful that Christ died for my sins. I have loved him since I was a little boy and love him even more now.

I am thankful for everyone who took the time to read this. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families and may God bless you!
