Michael Thomas, Sr., 58, passed away October 30, 2024 at Parkridge East Hospital in Chattanooga.
Michael was born to Willie and Lucille Thomas on May 28, 1966. He is a 1984 graduate of City High School. Michael is of the Baptist faith and a member of Christ Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Michael was the BEST son, BEST brother, BEST Dad, BEST uncle, BEST brother-in-law, BEST nephew, and BEST friend you could ever have. He was always willing to help in any capacity. He had a heart of gold. Michael made weekly phone calls to everyone in the family. He would often call and say “I didn’t want anything, I just called to see how you were doing.” He had a resounding effect on those he met and knew. Michael will be truly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Thomas, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Lucille (Monroe) Walker; son, Michael Thomas (Dorothy), Jr; daughters, Shunquitta Thomas, Ashley (Brandon) Williams; sister, Michelle (Brian) Oliver; granddaughter, Bailey Williams and bonus grandson, Khy’rei Johnson; nieces, Whitney Brazell and Sitney Oliver; those near and dear to him are Christy Williams and Van Jackson; cousins, Jason James, Henry, Chris and Jeffery Rutledge, John Paris, Jr., Marvin Tolbert, Al-Kareem Abdullah, Gloria Jude, Shanterra Greene, Deardra McGee and Binta Tolbert; aunts, Vivian Tolbert and Bobbie Rutledge; and a host of family members and friends.
A special thanks to all of you that shared your favorite story of Michael and how he impacted your life. He is already missed beyond measure, but we know he is resting in the Lord.
Public viewing will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, followed by a 2 p.m. chapel service.
