Children’s Hospital At Erlanger Is Collecting “Tiny Trees” For Patients

  • Wednesday, November 6, 2024
Children’s Hospital of Erlanger is requesting donations for miniature Christmas trees to decorate the rooms of patients in December for their annual “Tiny Trees” program.

The small donated trees add holiday cheer to the rooms of children during while in the hospital. Child Life Specialists will deliver the decorated trees to children’s rooms in early December and patients are encouraged to take their trees home when they leave the hospital.

According to Lois Simpson, senior child life specialist, “Most hospital rooms are small, so a 'Tiny Tree' with lights can really brighten up a space, bringing a little joy into each patient room.
The 'Tiny Tree' program has brought so many smiles to our hospitalized children over the years, and we look forward to continuing that again this year.”

Those wishing to contribute miniature trees may drop them off either Thursday, Dec. 5 or Friday, Dec. 6 between 8 a.m. and p.m. at the table near the main entrance of Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. Tree donations are limited to one per organization, group or person. If your group would like to make a large donation, please contact Emilia Jones, director of Volunteer Services & Guest Services, prior to starting.

Instructions for trees are as follows: Trees must be new and three feet tall or smaller. They must be artificial; no live trees. Individuals are encouraged to pick a theme for a child or teenager and decorate the tree with lights and purchased or handmade ornaments. Toys, such as dolls or cars, and ornaments must be securely wired onto trees. Please be sure ornaments do not include glass, sharp objects or anything that could be a choking hazard. Lights are great, but battery-powered lights are best. Please do not include food items on trees.

For more information, contact Ms. Jones at 423-778-7892, or emilia.jones@erlanger.org.
