CARTA Participates In Share Your Christmas Food Drive

  • Wednesday, December 4, 2024

The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority is partnering with Local 3 News and the Chattanooga Area Food Bank for the 40th annual Share Your Christmas food drive. From Dec. 10-12, CARTA invites riders to exchange food for fare, bringing canned goods and other non-perishable items on board in exchange for a ride on any CARTA vehicle, including CARTA GO, Care-A-Van, and fixed-route buses.

This unique opportunity not only helps riders get where they need to go but also supports a vital cause during the holiday season.

The Share Your Christmas food drive is one of the Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s largest initiatives, providing resources to more than 180,000 food-insecure individuals across the Tennessee Valley and northwest Georgia. With one in seven residents facing hunger, every donation makes a difference: each dollar’s worth of food donated can supply groceries for an entire day.

“CARTA has been honored to support this meaningful holiday tradition year after year,” said CARTA CEO Charles D. Frazier. “As part of our mission to serve the community, we’re committed to helping our neighbors in need during the holidays. This campaign perfectly reflects CARTA’s vision of connecting communities, empowering lives, and driving Chattanooga’s progress. We invite everyone to ride with us and give generously—because together, we can make a difference this holiday season.”
