Lessons and Carols 2023
Lessons and Carols 2023

Lee University’s School of Theology & Ministry and School of Music will present Lessons and Carols on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in The Lee University Chapel. This annual event is an interactive service that unites biblical lessons with Christmas music.

“With its reading of Scripture and singing of carols, this annual event has the flavor of an English Christmastide,” said Dr. Terry Cross, dean of the School of Theology & Ministry. “In one hour, the lessons from Scripture and the carols delivered by Lee Chorale tell the story from creation to the incarnation.”

Faculty from the School of Theology & Ministry will read nine lessons from the Old and New Testaments that traditionally tell the fall of humanity, the promise of salvation, and the birth of Jesus. Each reading will be followed by a related carol or musical selection performed by Lee Chorale, directed by Dr. William Green, dean of the School of Music. Guests will also be invited to join in singing Christmas hymns.

“For many in our community, this sacred service sets the tone for the holiday season,” said Dr. Green. “This is an intimate time to reflect on the gift of God that we celebrate together. We encourage families to make this a Christmas tradition.”

The event is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.
