The Chattanooga women’s basketball team returns home this Sunday, December 8, by welcoming Kennesaw State to the Roundhouse for UTC’s second-to-last home game of the 2024 calendar year.
The Mocs will battle it out with the Owls at 2 p.m. ET in the Scenic City. The game marks UTC’s Camper Appreciation Day, as well as a Holiday themed game with an ugly sweater beanie giveaway going out to the first 250 fans in attendance.
Fans that aren’t able to make it out to McKenzie Arena can catch Sunday’s game live on ESPN+, or by tuning into WFLI 96.1 FM/100.3 FM/1070 AM or The Varsity app.
Live stats will also be provided and can be found on GoMocs.com.
The Mocs continue to hover around the .500 mark as non-conference play rolls on, with UTC having dropped a pair of narrow losses in their most recent trip to Fort Myers, Florida, at the FGCU Homewood Suites Tournament. Despite the losses, the Mocs have shown a steady growth over the course of the fall slate with many newcomers receiving sizable minute shares due to UTC being bit early by the injury bug. Sophomore Caia Elisaldez has been a standout for the Mocs, averaging team-highs in points/game (10.6) and assists/game (4.1) this year. Karsen Murphy has also been a major threat for Chattanooga, averaging 10.3 points/game while leading the Southern Conference in three-point percentage (.429).
Kennesaw State enters its game against the Mocs still looking for the team’s first Division I win of 2024-25, as the Owls have only claimed victories over the likes of Life University and Erskine across the opening six games of the year. KSU has had some tough draws, having been blown out in road matchups at Belmont and Clemson, and now the Owls will look to get back on the right track by traveling to the Roundhouse this Sunday. The main player to watch for Kennesaw is Keyarah Berry, who is currently averaging 17.0 points/game for the Owls on a .414 shooting clip. Prencis Harden is another name to look out for, with Harden averaging 12.2 points/game while leading the team in rebounding (7.7 rebounds/game).
This will be the seventh meeting all-time between Chattanooga and Kennesaw State. The Mocs lead the series 4-2, having won the last two meetings between the squads. The last time these two teams battled it out came November 29, 2023 in Kennesaw, Georgia, when the Mocs eked out a narrow, low-scoring 49-43 victory over KSU. In the series’ history, UTC has yet to lose a game to the Owls at home, currently sitting 3-0 when hosting Kennesaw State.
