Longtime Waitress Worked At Several Local Restaurants

Peggy Dale Denny Strickland, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at her home.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and was of the Baptist faith. Peggy was a waitress by trade having worked at Holder’s Restaurant, Rebel’s Restaurant, and David’s Restaurant throughout the years. Peggy enjoyed fishing, camping, and being with her family. She was loved by her family and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, and she will always be held close to her family’s heart. Until we meet again, we will always love you.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mattie Henderson Denny; brothers, Harlen Denny, Johnny Cannon, and William “Bill” Cannon; and sister, Juanita Denny.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, George “Skip” Strickland; daughter, Anita (Kenneth) Bailey of Lafayette; son, George Black of Ft. Oglethorpe; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Nations; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor David Stancell officiating.

Interment will follow in the TN-GA Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
