A Berry College student recently won the Georgia Writers’ LGBTQIA+ Literary Success Grant for poetry.

Junior Meredith Stafford is a creative writing and German double major from Signal Mountain. She receives $500 and will present at the Red Clay Writers Conference at Kennesaw State University in April.

The Georgia Writers’ LGBTQIA+ Literary Success Grant chooses only four winners each year, with one winner per category. The grant exists to “to elevate, encourage and inspire the voices of young queer writers in Georgia.”

Applicants must either live in or attend school in Georgia and be between the ages of 18-24.
