A local couple who formerly operated a sandwich shop and then a St. Elmo restaurant are focusing now on spreading Cajun flavor to Chattanooga and far beyond.

Blackwell and Kelly Smith now operate Lucky Cajun, flavor packets blended here.

Mr. Smith notes, "My family has deep roots in this area, spanning five generations of proud residents and local business owners. We have a strong tradition of entrepreneurship, and I am thrilled to continue that legacy by producing Lucky Cajun right here in Chattanooga.

"Previously, my wife Kelly and I operated a beloved sandwich shop called Caffeine and then Blacksmith's in St. Elmo, where we garnered a loyal following and a reputation for quality fare.

"My culinary journey began at the esteemed Culinary Arts Institute of Louisiana, where I discovered my passion for the vibrant flavors of Louisiana cuisine.

"My time in Louisiana ignited my love for cooking with wholesome ingredients, inspiring the creation of Lucky Cajun, a family-owned business that believes in the transformative power of cooking from scratch with whole foods.

"At Lucky Cajun, we are on a mission to redefine the culinary landscape. We firmly believe that the food you consume should not only be delicious but also contribute to your health and happiness. That's why our products boast a commitment to purity – zero additives, MSG, added sugar, gluten, or excessive amounts of salt. We are driven by the desire to deliver freshness and flavor directly to your doorstep. Our story began when we grew tired of commercial Cajun seasoning blends dominating grocery store shelves with excessive salt, sugar, and other undesirable additives. Many of these blends compromise flavor and nutritional value for extended shelf life. Lucky Cajun has flipped the script. We operate on a weekly grinding system, ensuring that you receive maximum flavor and the goodness of wholesome ingredients in every bag and bottle.ou to Lucky Cajun, a brand that is making waves in the culinary world right here in Tennessee.

Lucky Cajun is on a mission to deliver freshly ground seasoning directly to homes and businesses across our state. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to quality. We pride ourselves on using zero additives, no added sugar, no fillers, and absolutely no MSG or artificial sweeteners.

"Our dedication to purity extends to our sourcing; we avoid cheap stale spices, ensuring that every blend we create is of the highest quality and potency. To be honest, freshly ground blends will consistently outperform the ones found on supermarket shelves."

Mr. Smith, who recently had a Kickstarter campaign, said, "We are already making waves in the culinary scene, with Asarum and Freaky Funnels food trucks incorporating our seasoning into their offerings. If you take a moment to snoop around or ask some market-loving friends about Lucky Cajun, Caffeine, or Blacksmith's, I'm confident you'll find some enthusiastic fans."
