The Northside Neighborhood House (NNH) announced the upcoming retirement of its devoted CEO, Rachel Gammon, after 25 years of dedicated service. Ms. Gammon, who began her career with the NNH in 1996, has been a driving force behind the organization's success and growth, leaving a lasting mark on the communities of Northern Hamilton County.

Beginning as an afterschool program assistant, Ms. Gammon progressed in leadership roles, demonstrating great dedication and impactful contributions leading to her appointment as CEO in June of 2006. During her tenure, she has been pivotal in advancing the NNH’s mission to foster relationships and connect neighbors to resources to support their path to stability. Under her leadership, the organization has achieved significant milestones, including increasing the operating budget tenfold, expanding operations from two to five sites, and extending the footprint of student programming to encompass ten schools across northern Hamilton County.

As CEO, Ms. Gammon has been an inspirational leader, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and compassion within the NNH. The organization has grown from 13 employees in 2006 to just over 70 under her guidance.

"It’s been a tremendous gift to work alongside such a talented team of staff, volunteers, and community members with a true commitment to serve and love our neighbors. I’m so thankful that God led me to the NNH, and for the opportunity I’ve had to make meaningful relationships with our neighbors and team,” Ms. Gammon said upon reflection of her tenure at the NNH.

Board President Cynthia Reagan said, “Rachel’s investment in this organization over the past 25 years, her visionary, compassionate, and insightful servant leadership, has left a legacy that will continue to create opportunities to serve our neighbors in the immediate future and well beyond.” Reagan added, “The NNH Board of Directors expresses its deepest gratitude to Rachel for her outstanding leadership and tireless efforts in advancing the NNH's mission.”

The NNH has appointed a dedicated search committee composed of the board president, vice president, and additional current board members to oversee the process of finding and selecting the next CEO. “The Board is confident that the next CEO will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the NNH, building upon the strong foundation laid by Rachel,” said Ms. Reagan.

Ms. Gammon will remain on staff with the NNH throughout the search process and for an additional period to facilitate the onboarding of her successor. Her dedication to positively impacting the lives of neighbors of all ages across Northern Hamilton County has been unwavering, and her legacy will undoubtedly endure through the continued work of the dedicated staff and volunteers.

The job posting can be found on the NNH website at nnhouse.org/careers. All inquiries, as well as cover letters and resumes from interested candidates, may be sent to searchcomm@nnhouse.org.

The Northside Neighborhood House has been focused on empowering residents north of the Tennessee River to create thriving communities across northern Hamilton County since 1924.
