Covenant Tennis Teams Drop Matches In Texas

The Covenant College men's and women's tennis teams began their trip to Texas trip with a battle against Concordia. The Scots were out-played in singles and fell 7-2 and the Lady Scots lost 8-1.

In the No. 1 doubles men's match, the duo of Ben Onufrock and Austin Dreslinski took the win in a tiebreak 8-6 (7-3) over Josh Bode and Adriam Munguia. Solomon Crouch and Gill Dunn were out-played today by Esteban Aweclondo and Kish Kersten, dropping their match 8-2 in the No. 2 slot.

Onufrock was unable to secure the two-point day as he fell 3-6, 4-6 in the No. 1 slot to Bode.  Dreslinski played two close sets, but fell 4-6, 4-6 to S. Scholz in the No. 2 position.  In the No. 3 position, Domkowski picked up Covenant's lone singles win over Kersten in a tiebreak 3-6, 6-2, (10-5). Crouch fell short in the No. 4 slot 1-6, 3-6 to Bregman. Dunn played the No. 5 ranked match and fell 1-6, 5-7 to Beckles. Brock Boehling suffered his second defeat of the Spring in a 4-6, 3-6 result to E. Arredondo.

In the women's match the No. 1 singles match, Lauren Carr and Addi Gunyon were upended 2-8 by Kayla Dena and Bella Cereda. Macy Matson and Dani Rappuhn were shutout 0-8 by Trinity Klamecki and Emily Pullen in the No. 2 slot. Concordia took the doubles sweep as Alexis Baker and Angel Traylor were defeated 3-8 by Aria Moreni and Natalia Goodman. 


Carr lost the No. 1 singles match 2-6, 2-6 to Pena.  After losing every game in the first set, Addi Gunyon battled in the second set, but ultimately fell 0-6, 4-6 to Cepeda in the No. 2 position.  Matson picked up Covenant's lone win in the No. 3 slot, 3-6, 6-3, (10-6) over Klamecki.  The tiebreak was not as fortunate to Baker as it was to Matson as she fell 6-3, 2-6, (10-8) to Goodman in the No. 4 position.  Traylor was defeated 2-6, 2-6 by Moreni in the No. 5 ranked match. 
Rappuhn also fell in a tiebreak 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 to R. Mcqueen in the final singles match. 

The Covenant men play Southwestern on Friday and women will play Texas Lutheran.
