The Covenant men's golf team started play at the CCS Championship on Monday morning at Dalton Country Club. Despite not competing in nearly a month, Covenant came out hot as it finished day one in third place at (+10) with Drew Silman leading the way with a school-record score of 67 (-5).
Silman is in first place on the individual leaderboard and leads by three strokes after his opening round 67. The sophomore had seven birdies on the day, including five on the opening nine.
Titus Cooke turned in a scoreboard of 76 (+4), which currently puts him at tied-11th.
The New Jersey native shot 38 on both the front and back nine.
The next Covenant player on the leaderboard was Ayden Cordell in a tie for 17th after shooting 78 (+6). In his first ever CCS Championship round, the freshman had 14 pars on the scorecard.
Bo Luff delivered Covenant's final counting score on Monday, posting 80 (+8) to put him in tied 20th. The highlight of his day was an eagle on the par-five 13th hole.
Grant Little was one shot behind Luff at 81 (+9) and currently sits in tied-25th.
