Come cheer on the Chattanooga softball team Wednesday in their final home game of the season. The Mocs host Tennessee Tech in a non-conference matchup before closing out the season on the road at ETSU this weekend.

The Mocs, 13-4 in league play, moved into first place over the weekend, sweeping Samford in the three-game series. The Bulldogs and UNCG were tied for the conference lead heading into the weekend, half a game ahead of UTC.
Samford, with three losses, dropped to a tie for third with Wofford at 11-7. The Spartans dropped two of three games at Mercer and fell to 12-6 in SoCon action.
Chattanooga has won 15 SoCon regular season titles including last season, the most of any conference program since 1994.

Chattanooga is hitting .300 as a team led by Olivia Lapari who is fifth in the SoCon. Camryn Cernuto is seventh hitting .359 and Zoe Wright is 11th with a .347 batting average. Lipari is second in the SoCon with 15 doubles while Wright and Cernuto lead the league with four triples each. Presley Williamson and Acelynn Sellers lead the Mocs with eight home runs each and Lipari, sixth in the SoCon, has a team-best 37 RBI. She is second in the conference with 32 walks and Cernuto is perfect on the base paths with 16 steals in as many attempts.
In the circle, the Mocs have a 2.56 team ERA led by Peja Goold who ranks ninth in the NCAA with a SoCon-best 1.45 earned run average. She also leads the SoCon with 207 strikeouts, ninth in the NCAA. Her eight shutouts are twice as many as the next in the conference standings and third in the NCAA. Taylor Long has a 2.51 ERA and is second in the SoCon for strikeouts and shutouts.
The Mocs lead the series 19-11 dating back to 1995. UTC has twice won six in a row against the Golden Eagles and won the first game in the series 6-0 in Atlanta. The Mocs have a 13-9 record against Tennessee Tech at home.
The Mocs earned a 1-0 victory over Tennessee Tech earlier this season in Cookeville. The score came in the third inning on a bases-loaded hit by pitch. Taylor Long earned the win and Olivia Lipari had the RBI. Long gave up just one hit, a single up the middle and the Mocs had just three hits in the game.
