Betty Ruth Stevens Ownbey, 93, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 26, 2024.

She was born to the late Jesse Stevens and Theodocia Woodby Stevens in Maryville, Tn., lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area and was a member of Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle. Betty was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and prayer warrior who will be greatly missed.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Aaron C. Ownbey; daughter, Deborah Jean Ownbey; and siblings, Geneita Lowry, Mary E. Wilson, Eugene Stevens, and Lorene “Toby” Smith.

Betty is survived by her loving children, Martha L. Pike, David A. (Diane) Ownbey, and Stephen C. (Rebecca) Ownbey; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 4, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Justin Gazaway and Bro. Blake Ownbey officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lakewood Memory Gardens-East. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, and prior to the service on Monday.
