Covenant Tennis Teams Split In Texas Swing

On day two of its trip to Texas, the Covenant Scots tennis team had an opportunity to pick up two wins, including one over a nationally ranked opponent. After a full day of Tennis, Covenant ended the day 1-1.

In doubles, Ben Onufrock and Austin Dreslinksi were defeated 5-8 in the No. 1 doubles match against Ashton Elli and Oscar Roy. In the No. 2 slot, Solomon Crouch and Gill Dunn fought hard before being defeated in a tiebreak 7-8, (6-8) to Travis Rafferty and Bernado Clemente.
The duo of Caleb Domkowski and Camden Lashley got the job done for the Scots in the No. 3 position with an 8-6 win over Sebastian Herrera and Landon Sosebee.

Onufrock, playing in the No. 1 slot sent his match to three sets, but ultimately fell 6-1, 1-6, 3-6 to Roy. Dreslinski picked up a big win in the No. 2 position, a 6-3, 6-3 result over Anton Borovik.
Domkowski couldn't keep up with Clemente in the No. 3 ranked match, falling 1-6, 0-6. Crouch battled Joseph Snyman in the No. 4 slot and fell 2-6, 2-6. Dunn was defeated 3-6, 1-6 by Rafferty in the No. 5 position. Brock Boehling took the loss against Ryan Flanagan in the No. 6 singles match 0-6, 2-6.

Covenant 9, Texas Lutheran 0 In the No. 1 doubles match, Dreslinski and Onufrock bounced back from its loss earlier in the day with an 8-5 result over Cash Herrera and Eric Moninger.
Crouch and Dunn did the same thing as they took home an 8-4 win over JT Figueroa and Logan Randall in the No. 2 slot. Picking up their second doubles win of the day was Domkowski and Lashley with an 8-4 victory over Xavier Cristan and Jackson Leslie.

Onufrock played a perfect match against Randall in the No. 1 slot, winning 6-0, 6-0. Dreslinski cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Cristan in the No. 2 position. Domkowski won his first set 6-0, before holding on to a 6-4 second set win over Herrera to get a sweep in the No. 3 slot. In his first match in the No. 4 position, Brock Boehling was victorious in a tiebreak 2-6, 6-1, (10-7) over Moninger. Playing in his first match of the spring, Graham Hayes picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Leslie in the No. 5 slot. In another season debut, Jacob Eldridge won in a tiebreak 3-6, 6-2, (10-3) over Figueroa in the final singles match.

The Covenant men continues with its Texas trip as it takes on Schreiner Saturday.

In women's action, after falling in its first match of the Texas trip the day before, Covenant wanted to get back in the win column. That is exactly what it did against TLU. 

Covenant 8, Texas Lutheran 1 Lauren Carr and Addi Gunyon did what they had to and picked up an 8-5 win in the No. 1 position over Lindsay Beville and Cooper Lindstrom.
Macy Matson and Dani Rappuhn cruised to an 8-0 win in the No. 2 slot over Abbie Spreyer and Allie Spreyer.  Clinching the doubles sweep was Alexis Baker and Angel Traylor with an 8-2 win over Mercedes Tirado and Ashley Medellin. 

Carr was defeated in the No. 1 position 2-6, 3-6 by Beville. Gunyon didn't lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lindstrom in the No. 2 ranked match. Just as she did in her doubles match, Matson was perfect, winning 6-0, 6-0 against Allie Spreyer in the No. 3 position. Baker played to an exciting No. 4 ranked match and ultimately won in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 over Abbie Spreyer. Traylor secured her two-point day with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Tirado in the No. 5 singles match. In the only singles match that went to a tiebreak, Rappuhn was victorious 1-6, 6-2, (10-4) over Medellin. 

Covenant continues its Texas road trip with a match against Schreiner.
