No intention is made to demean the legacy of the 33rd president of the United States who followed FDR upon his death in April 1945 by referring to the slogan most often connected to Harry S. Truman.
Following my March 11, 2024 article “Lookouts Name Must Go”, I received the following warm, fuzzy, and complimentary e-mail message from an unidentified reader which is enclosed for the reading pleasure of my 125-member growing audience:
“In paraphrasing your BS article. Lies and additional old white man hate which describes you. what we need less of is old ass white men pointing at everything as if y’all did anything. you helped DUI idiots to keep driving St Petulant.”
Although the talented and learned critic did not sign their name they forgot to delete their Gmail moniker.
In a gesture of appreciated affection, I did send the following response:
“if this is a courtesy copy to me thank you. if it is personal enjoy your silent rights under the First Amendment. JHS”
PS: Because of my limited public school education, I did have to look up the definition of “Petulant”.
The 96 similar synonyms contained therein may be correct as applied to this writer but you don’t have to read what is written by the old timer!
