St. Andrew's-Sewanee Middle School Volleyball won a double header over Pelham on Wednesday and a regular season match vs. Monteagle Thursday.
The scores vs. Pelham were 25-4, 25-12 in the first match and 25-4, 25-6 in the second match. The Mountain Lions had strong play from Aubrey Blosser with 16 aces and 8 service points, Maggie Mayo with 16 attacks and 3 kills, and Lyra Spake with 10 aces and 6 service points.
Thursday saw Monteagle vs SAS and this time, the Hornets had their full line up for 8th grade night.
The Mountain Lions won in 4 sets, 25-15, 18-25, 25-11, 25-18. The match was closer than the scores appeared but strong leadership from Savannah Blosser with 14 aces and 8 service points, Leah Moody with 10 passes, Adeline Pond with 10 service points and 10 passes/assists and Maggie Lu Rudd, who had 2 key aces at critical points in the match, sealed the win for the Mountain Lions. Leonora Pate and Brinkley O'Neal came off the bench and contributed with 2 assists and 2 service points.
The team is 8-4 on the season and will play in the conference tournament Saturday at Grundy County High. Times are to be announced.
